Identity, Health and Women

I am pleased to announce that my book 'Identity, Health and Women: a critical social psychological perspective' was published by Palgrave Macmillan in October 2010. The book is based on my research into women's health as detailed below:

I embarked on my research about women's health in 2001 and have recently completed my doctorate in this subject. My thesis, entitled 'An Autobiography of Health: A study of health and identity amongst perimenopausal women' now forms the basis of my book. I am available for further research - please contact me if you are interested in employing my research skills.

Research in health identity is important in both personal and societal terms. An understanding of the way identity is constructed is essential in understanding how to effect social change. Although this is a complex issue, my work clarifies and models the theory underpinning identity construction and it's practice in lived experience.

Future Work

The work is now published and is available for health practitioners, students, nursing and medical practitioners and anyone with an interest in identity construction.

The theory presented in this book will now be used to illustrate ways to understand identity in practice in everyday matters such as parenting and work related roles. Please check back for news on future publications.
